There exists one new, entirely seamless neighborhood, where all Sims live, work and play together.

Create the Sim of your dreams, with an all new re-designed CAS screen.

Sims now have their own personalized traits, this will make each Sim unique and different from every other sim.

There will be eighty traits to choose from, giving even more personality to your Sims.

Sims have traits, not “values.”  You choose personal-ad style descriptions, like ‘evil’, ‘playful’, or ‘paranoid’.  “Developing your characters,” Rod Humble says, “is now about picking how you'd describe them rather than moving sliders.”

A new control panel makes playing the game even more easier.

Sims think for themselves.  The player does not need to pay so much attention to Sims’ needs any more.

There will be an entirely new needs system.

Sims can wander out of their house, down to the shops, and gather in the town square.

Sims can now walk around the neighborhood and spy on other Sims.

Feeding Sims is now simpler, and less likely to end with them huddled over a plate in the middle of the floor.  If they're hungry, a message will tell you so, complete with a simple “Click here to feed him” button.

There's an inventory.  For example, perhaps your Sim wants to impress someone with a fancy meal.  They can pick up ingredients and then make a dish they can even grow their own produce for an even more personal recipe.

In Sims 3, events influence your Sims’ mood.  They might be angry for 24 hours because you let them wet themselves, or flying high for a whole week because they got jiggy with the missus.

You can create morbidly obese Sims or totally buff ones!  New weight and muscle sliders allow for some truly impressive, or disgusting, creations.

There will not be nor will there ever be any multiplayer.
